The Freshman Orientation Program was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering on December 12, 2020, to welcome the new 74th batch of students admitted in Fall 2020 trimester. This event was virtually arranged using the BdREN licensed ZOOM Meeting Virtual Session. In the program, the departmental coordinators provided the necessary advice, counseling, and guidelines to the new students regarding the orientation courses, academic rules, and the online and regular codes of conduct of the university. The departmental coordinators who spoke on the occasion were Ms. Farhana Chowdhury (Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Examination Committee), Mr. Subrata Chowdhury (Assistant Professor and Coordinator of Course Distribution and Routine Committee), Ms. Tahmina Rahman Chowdhury (Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Project and Thesis Committee), Ms. Berjees Anisa Ikra (Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Registration Committee), Mr. Kamruzzam Haque Limon (Senior Lecturer and Coordinator of the Disciplinary Committee) and Ms. Farjana Akter (Senior Lecturer and Coordinator of the Admission & Orientation Committee). Also, among the new students, Sumaya Kaisar Sharly and Md. Zakiur Rahaman shared their distance learning experience and expressed the assurance that they would hold on to the guidance they received and prove themselves successful in the future. Finally, the Honorable Chairman, Prof. Dr. B. C. Basak, concluded the event by wishing the newcomers a brighter future as well as expressing his hope for meeting with them soon after the challenging period of Covid-19.
The virtual orientation event was supervised entirely by Farjana Akter (Coordinator and Meeting Host), Rumpa Chowdhury (Member and Meeting Co-Host) and Sumaiya Sharmin (Member and Meeting Co-Host) from the Admission and Orientation Committee of the Civil Engineering Department.
