The Vice-Chancellor of BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT), Prof Dr Engr Ayub Nabi Khan, paid a courtesy call on Stamford University Bangladesh Vice-Chancellor Dr Sharif Nafe As-Saber at the latter’s office in the capital on Sunday.
The meeting centred on enhancing academic and research collaboration between the two institutions. Both vice-chancellors stressed the need to improve the standard of higher education in Bangladesh, particularly in the fields of textile, fashion and engineering.
They discussed a range of potential joint initiatives, including student and faculty exchange programmes, collaborative research, and the organisation of seminars and workshops. The importance of strengthening ties between academia and industry was also highlighted.
Prof Khan said that in an increasingly competitive global environment, there is no alternative to quality education and research, adding that such collaboration would play a significant role in developing students’ skills.
Dr As-Saber noted that mutual cooperation would create greater scope for innovation and knowledge generation, which would contribute positively to the country’s development.
Among those present were Prof B C Basak, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Prof Dr Ahamed Kamruzzaman Majumdar, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Dr. Mrityunjoy Acharjee, Associate Professor & Proctor and MD Motaher Hossain, Director of Finance and Mr Abdul Matin, Register, Stamford University Bangladesh.
Both universities expressed optimism about undertaking joint initiatives in the future.
