A team of scientists from the Livestock Research Institute (LRI) visited the Department of Microbiology, Stamford University Bangladesh.
The visiting LRI team comprised Dr. Robyn Alders AO, International Veterinary Leader and One Health Specialist in Sustainable Food Systems; Dr. Md. Mostofa Kamal, Director, Research, Training & Evaluation, Livestock Research Institute, Mohakhali, Dhaka; Dr. Gamini Jayawardane, former Quality Control Manager, Bioproperties Ltd., Sydney, Australia; Dr. Tahmina Begum, Principal Scientific Officer, Ranikhet Vaccine Section, Livestock Research Institute, Mohakhali, Dhaka; Dr. Nasreen Parveen, Principal Scientific Officer, Ranikhet Vaccine Section, Livestock Research Institute, Mohakhali, Dhaka; and Dr. Maksudur Rasid, Principal Scientific Officer, PPR Vaccine Section, Livestock Research Institute, Mohakhali, Dhaka.
During their visit, the team toured the department’s laboratories, classrooms, and other academic and research facilities to gain an overview of the department’s infrastructure, educational activities, and ongoing research initiatives.
Following the facility tour, the visiting team delivered a brief presentation and interacted with the fourth-year and master’s students of the Department of Microbiology.
An interactive session was also held with members of the Microbiology Department who had previously worked at LRI.
The Department of Microbiology was represented by Associate Professor & Chairman, Md. Aftab Uddin; Associate Professor & Executive Director of SURC, Dr. Md. Sharifull Islam and MBO Coordinator & Assistant Professor Kamal Kanta Das. Faculty members of the Department of Microbiology were also present throughout the program.
As part of the visit, the LRI team also met with the Honorable Vice Chancellor of Stamford University Bangladesh, Professor Dr. Sharif Nafe As-Saber, where they exchanged views and discussed opportunities for further academic and institutional collaboration between the two organizations.
