Seventeen student forums and clubs join three-day event aimed at fostering leadership, creativity and teamwork
Stamford University Bangladesh has launched its three-day ‘Forum Week 2026’, organised by the university’s Students’ Welfare Office (SWO), with the aim of recruiting new members and encouraging greater student involvement in co-curricular activities.
The event was inaugurated at noon on Sunday, 9 August, at the university auditorium premises.
Professor Dr. Farahnaaz Feroz, Chairperson of the university’s Board of Trustees, attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest, while Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Sharif Nafe As-Saber was present as the special guest.
Among others attending the programme were Professor Dr. Mrityunjoy Acharjee, Proctor of the university; Muhammad Abdul Matin, Registrar; Mohammad Motaher Hossain, Director of Finance; Prodeepto Mobarook, Head of Public Relations; and Tamanna Zerin, Student Welfare Adviser.
Chairpersons of different departments, conveners and members of various forums and clubs, as well as a large number of students, also took part in the event.
The three-day programme has been organised primarily to recruit new members for 17 forums and clubs operating under the Students’ Welfare Office. Forum Week will continue from 9 to 11 August, with activities taking place every day from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
According to the organisers, the initiative is not limited to membership recruitment. It also seeks to develop students’ leadership qualities, creativity, communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Professor Farahnaaz Feroz highlighted the importance of co-curricular activities in students’ overall development.
She said participation in social, cultural and organisational activities alongside academic studies plays an important role in strengthening students’ skills, confidence and personality.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Sharif Nafe As-Saber encouraged students to become actively involved in the university’s various forums and clubs.
He said such activities help students enhance their leadership, communication and organisational capabilities while also preparing them for the challenges of their future professional lives.
Professor Dr. Mrityunjoy Acharjee, Proctor of the university, stressed the importance of responsible and positive participation in co-curricular activities.
He observed that organisational experience gained during university life can help students grow into more confident, capable and responsible individuals.
University authorities said students are regularly encouraged to take part in co-curricular activities as part of the institution’s efforts to ensure their well-rounded development alongside academic education.
With the inauguration, the formal activities of Forum Week 2026 have begun. During the three-day event, the university’s forums and clubs will showcase their activities, engage with students and recruit new members.
The Students’ Welfare Office expressed its gratitude to the university authorities, guests, teachers, officials, forum and club members, and students for their support and cooperation in making the event possible.
