On October 8, 2026, an exciting movie day was organised by the StaryBird forum, bringing together around 70 students and faculty members for a memorable afternoon centered on cinema, discussion, and camaraderie. The program was held in Room B 504 of the English Department. The event was officially inaugurated by the Department Chairman, Dr. Sayma Arju. To set a welcoming and thematic atmosphere, custom headbands titled "Odyssey," were crafted by the enthusiastic members of the StrayBird forum which were worn by all attendees throughout the event.
The core highlight of the day was watching "The Odyssey" together, a story that holds direct academic relevance as the text is included in the students' syllabus. The film adaptation follows the epic journey of Odysseus as he faces monumental obstacles, mythical hurdles, and long trials on his return home after the Trojan War. Attendees easily related the story's themes to their own academic journeys and personal growth, deepening their understanding of the syllabus material in an entertaining, shared setting.
Following the movie, the excitement continued with an interactive raffle draw organized by the StrayBird forum. Five lucky winners were presented with gifts, adding a fun and celebratory touch to the afternoon. The movie day concluded on a happy, enthusiastic note at 5:30 PM, leaving both students and faculty with fond memories and a refreshed spirit.
