Farjana Akter joined the Department of Civil Engineering at Stamford University Bangladesh as a Lecturer in May 2015. She was promoted to Senior Lecturer in March 2018. She is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the department. During her tenure, she has played pivotal roles in various committees. She previously coordinated the Admission and Orientation Committees and is now serving as the Coordinator for both the Course Offering and Alumni Committees. She is also working as the member of the Course Distribution and Routine Committee. Additionally, she has made significant contributions as a Structural Team Member for Stamford University’s Permanent Campus Project at Mugda, where she was responsible for preparing structural designs, drawings, and providing high-level supervision.
Farjana Akter has basically developed her academic and research career in the field of Structural Engineering. She earned her M.Sc. in Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering) from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in June 2018. Her graduate research focused on the behavior and strength enhancement of steel-jacketed reinforced concrete (RC) columns under concentric axial loads. She completed her B.Sc. in Civil Engineering, with a major in Structural Engineering and a minor in Geotechnical Engineering, from Stamford University Bangladesh in May 2011. Her undergraduate thesis investigated the effects of longer span floor systems in multi-story commercial RC building frames. Farjana Akter has authored and co-authored several publications in internationally refereed, peer-reviewed journals.
